My experiences at Hartsfield Jackson will remain with me for a long time. I choose to remember how bountifully I am blessed when I simply go with the flow, when I relinquish my need to control situations. This is the last part of my journey.
I called a friend as I sat there. I wanted to get away for a short time if possible. I left a voicemail message and continued on with my explorations of the airport adventure. He and his cousin came and took me to dinner. This was a wonderful treat that may not have happened if I were not stuck at the airport. We enjoyed wonderful fellowship together, a great meal, delightful service and great friends. A wonderful combination!
I know I went through the security process at least four times. I kept going back to the gates to see if I could get on the next flight! What was so amazing to me is the first two times I went through with no problems, but the third and fourth times I was stopped! It was all so humorous to me. I had not changed one single thing I had on me or was carrying.
So finally, here is the next to the last flight of the day. I sat there with my boarding pass, just waiting. My name is called by the same agent that had worked every flight to Los Angeles that day. He recognized me as having been there all day waiting on a flight. I approached the line leading to the walkway for the plane and he said, “I told you to come to the counter.” So I apologized and walked to the counter as he looked very serious and explained “Oh I am terribly sorry I called your name by accident.” I literally stopped breathing. And he began to laugh hysterically at me! I had helped to make his day because not once had I become upset with not being able to get on a flight. This was his way of appreciating me!
On the plane I was gifted with sitting on the aisle way next to a mother and baby boy. This baby and I played all the way to Los Angeles, allowing the mother to take a nap now and then. I usually sit next to the window and would have missed this opportunity to share with this baby.
It was a most awesome 13 hours! I was gifted with wonderful Spirits who shared so unselfishly with me of who they were. I joyously received their gifts of friendship and I know I am blessed by having spent thirteen hours absorbing the love of other people.
